Being offered for sale is the vintage/antique FIGURAL INCENSE BURNER (in the shape of a Tanuki (a.k.a. a raccoon-dog), a mythical shape-shifiting trickster or spook which was originally considered evil but now, not as much and was also often depicted with large testicles) from Japan by unknown maker (no visible maker’s mark(s) other than the Japanese characters (which we don’t know what they say)), from circa the early -to- mid 20th century (best guess), as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR CONDITION NOTES. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. Very Good/VG+ antique condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear. MISSING ORIGINAL LID. Possible damage to mouth/teeth (we can’t quite tell, see pics). Otherwise, we see NO breaks or repairs. Superb, insanely rich patina throughout and even some old incense ash coating interior. See pics.
